Driven by identity politics and leftist ideology, the Biden-Harris Administration is making drastic changes to the United States military that risk diverting its focus away from its primary responsibilities.

Lt. Gen. (Ret.) Jerry Boykin, executive vice president of the Family Research Council, joined Andrew Wommack and Richard Harris on a recent Truth & Liberty livecast to discuss a number of issues, including the current climate of the military.

“I’m more worried about the military than anything else,” says Gen. Boykin.

Standing Down for Diversity and Inclusion

Recently, Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin – a retired four-star general – called for a 60-day standdown of the nation’s military to focus on diversity and inclusion initiatives.

“I’ve never seen or heard of anything like that,” says Gen. Boykin. “Our military is supposed to be ready to go at all times, on a moment’s notice, and respond to threats to this nation.”

The secretary ordered the standdown to address “extremism” in the military, supposedly in response to protests at the United States Capitol on Jan. 6. Servicepeople were subjected to training about extremism, but according to Gen. Boykin a recent report indicated that the concept was undefined and left purposefully vague.

Fighting to Preserve the Mission

Underlying the whole exercise was the concept of critical race theory, often used as a tool of division by the radical left. According to Gen. Boykin, critical race theory takes a page out of the Marxist playbook by its premise that all white people are racist and must be re-educated.

“If you think about what Karl Marx [the father of socialism and communism] said, he said you have the bourgeoisie and the proletariat, and you got to get them to fight each other and bring about a revolution – and then we level the playing field,” says Gen. Boykin. “Well, now, it’s not economic classes, it’s race.”

The administration’s recent orders allowing transgenderism in the military – along with fully funded transition therapy – is also putting its fundamental mission at risk. According to the general, each serviceperson’s therapy and transition could cost more than $100,000, and could monopolize three years out of a typical four-year enlistment, compromising that person’s ability to serve.

“The military is about readiness – it’s about winning,” says Gen. Boykin. “[Gen.] Douglas MacArthur stood in the West Point mess hall in 1967, and he looked down at the cadets there, and he said, ‘Your mission remains fixed, determined, inviolable – it is to win the nation’s wars.’”
